Installation position of the lambda sensor
As a basic rule: In order for the catalytic converter to work optimally, the air-fuel ratio in the combustion chamber must be precisely attuned. In the process, lambda sensors play an important role.
Modern vehicles have at least two lambda sensors. A control sensor is positioned before the catalytic converter and - since the introduction of On-Board-Diagnostics (OBD) - a diagnostic sensor is positioned after the catalytic converter.
Modern vehicles have at least two lambda sensors. A control sensor installed in front of the catalytic converter and a rear or diagnostic sensor mounted after the catalytic converter.
