The responsible handling of the resources available to mankind and the protection of the natural environment are highly regarded at NGK.

In addition to the fact that products from NGK always make more environmentally-friendly automobiles possible, the company has placed an emphasis on its own environmental balance sheet.

Certification according to the international environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004

NGK Spark Plug Europe, like aIl subsidiary companies of the NGK Spark Plug corporate group, is certified in accordance with the international environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004. The goal of this standard to the continuous improvement of the ecological balance sheet of the company. The energy and water consumption are kept to a minimum, just like the output of emissions. Great efforts are made to reduce waste. Even in the acquisition of office materials, sustainability factors are always taken into consideration. The list of measures is long and pertains to all areas of the company.

Environmentally-friendly production

NGK also sets a course when it involves having the most environmentally-friendly production possible: The factories in Japan and around the globe cover part of their energy requirement with the help of in-house solar power systems. In the process, the release of carbon dioxide was lowered by 57 tonnes in 2008 alone.
